How much can I claim under the RDTI?

What does the R&D Tax Incentive offer me?

The RDTI offers tax offsets of a proportion of expenditure on your company’s R&D spend. How much you can claim mostly depends on what size of turnover your company has, and how much R&D you do.

Read our previous post here to get the finer details on what and how the RDTI is applied to your business.

What can you claim for?

The RDTI recognises two kinds of R&D activities that can be claimed for;

Core R&D activities are experimental activities. This is pretty much the ‘R’ in R&D.

Supporting R&D activities are the ‘D’ in R&D and must be conducted in support of Core R&D activities.

While any RDTI claim must contain at least one Core R&D activity, Supporting R&D activities are optional.

Within your overall claim, you can include:

· expenditure incurred on R&D activities

· decline in value of depreciating assets used in R&D activities

· balancing adjustments for depreciating assets used only in R&D activities.

But you cannot claim:

· interest expenditure,

· expenditure that is not at risk,

· core technology expenditure,

· the cost of a depreciating asset or,

· costs to acquire or construct a building.

How do I claim all that I’m entitled to?

Talk to R&D Certainty!

In our experience, many companies that ought to be eligible for big tax offsets through the RDTI fail to receive them because they do not provide the right evidence of their R&D effort. Many others do not receive all they are entitled to because they under-claim the ‘D’ in R&D.

In order to receive all the FREE MONEY you are entitled to under the RDTI it is essential that you have a clearly articulated R&D plan that can be applied to the registration documentation. At R&D Certainty we specialise in ensuring that your R&D plan is both acceptable to the RDTI scheme and that it encompasses all your R&D activities so that you are guaranteed the maximum tax offsets against your R&D spend.

So talk to us NOW! You could me missing out on tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in FREE MONEY if you don’t!
